Partnership Desk

An overview of PartnershipDesk.com

PartnershipDesk.com* is a free service which enables you to line up partners and teammates well in advance of Disctrict 25 tournaments (or any EMBA club game). It works a bit like the partnership desk at a tournament and a bit like a dating service. When you register and log in, you will enter a few details about yourself and from then on you just submit requests for games you're interested in. Confirmation will be via email. You get to choose the most suitable player for you. It's especially helpful for newer bridge players.

If you would like to browse the site to see which tournaments and events are listed, and which have players who are looking, then you should first click on browse tournaments. If you would like to submit a request for a partner or teammates, then you must create an account first.

PartnershipDesk is a free service to bridge players to help them find partners and teammates. Only District 25 (New England Bridge Conference) events are listed currently. Here's the information

Once you have created an account, you will login. The first time you after you have logged in, you must create a profile (you do this only once).  Your profile will include the nickname you want to be known by in the system, your name and a description of bridge skills and accomplishments. You will then add a membership in a bridge organization (only ACBL is recognized at present), giving your total masterpoints, the number of points you earned last year, and the system(s) you play. Again, this is done only once per organization you belong to.  Now you are ready to find the event(s) you're interested in and submit a request. Let's start with finding a partner for a pairs event, the simplest scenario. Once you've made a partnership request, if there are suitable matches already in the system, you will be given the opportunity to invite a player immediately.  Otherwise, you will receive an e-mail notification if and when you have been invited by some one else. While you don't have an invitation pending, you can, and should, check for possible matches at any time (using Manage My Requests), issuing an invitation as you like. When both players have accepted the match, they will receive each other's real name and e-mail address and can communicate directly to make the final arrangements to play.

Now let's look at finding teammates. This time, you have to choose whether you are trying to fill a 4-person, 4-player, 5-player or 6-player team. A 4-person team can enter all types of team event. The other kinds of teams can enter any event except Compact KOs, and may have a non-playing captain in addition to the stated number of players. Often, when you starting building a team, you already have some players signed up. You enter these when you submit the request (so that potential matching teams can see who they'll be playing with). If those people are not registered players, you can add their profiles under your own login, provided that you know enough to fill out their information, points, etc. Later on, you can request to switch their player profile to their own login.
